This blog is dedicated to people with disabilities and to bring awareness to the important services and supports that help them lead full lives in their communities. Particularly in North Carolina, where I live, the public system of supports to people with disabilities is under considerable strain due to financial issues and a massive reform effort that started ten years ago and is still struggling under its own rate of change.  I hope through this blog to draw attention to issues locally and nationally that impact the lives of people with disabilities, and their membership in our society.

Note: this blog is personal, and while it doesn’t speak on anyone’s behalf, it is certainly informed by my work in the field supporting people with mental health issues and intellectual and developmental disabilities.  There will be the occasional post about music and cycling and my wife and kids, too. Fair warning.
